Montevecchio mines Piscinas Knives Museum in Arbus
Our visit will begin in Montevecchio mining complex. This site was exploited since ancient times to mine lead-glance and zinc blende and gradually it became a cutting-edge industrial settlement thanks to Giovanni Antonio Sanna, an enlightened entrepreneur who had Garibaldi and Mazzini among his friends. In the beginning of the Twentieth century Montevecchio, with its 3,500
miners, was a model mining town , but crisis begun with the international competitiveness, and the whole human geography of the area had to adapt to the new condition.
We'll visit the Direction Building which was built in 1876 in a French Art Nouveau style.
You'll find out that the Geo-mining Park doesn't only mean industrial archeology, but also breathtaking shores and beaches
We'll then stop in Piscinas: this beach, with its 60-meter high white sand dunes, the highest in Europe , is listed among UNESCO World Human Heritage sites.

Our visit will end at the Knives Museum in Arbus, where you'll be able to see and buy traditional clasp knives which are real works of art.
