Central and Southern Sardinia all year long
9 days / 8 nights in Bed & Breakfast, half board, 7 excursions, airport/harbour transfers
First Day Cagliari . We'll visit Cagliari , Sardinia 's most important city. We'll then go on to Nora where we'll visit the Phoenician, Punic and Roman ruins.
Second Day Sant'Antioco Island . We'll meet the only master who still keeps the knowledge and technique of an very old tradition which traces back to Ancient Egypt: the weaving of byssus (or seasilk). We'll then visit Sant'Antioco's Church (V cent.) and the Catacombs (III cent.). Walking around we'll see the wide Phoenician-Punic necropolis and the Tophet. On the way back to Cagliari we'll stop to visit the houses of fairies, a striking amphitheatre of Neolitic tombs dig in the rock.
Third Day We'll drive to Nuoro, where we'll visit the Popular Traditions Museum with its wonderful collection of Sardinian costumes and masks of Barbagia carnival. We'll stroll about the paths of the Literary Park named after Grazia Deledda, Sardinian Nobel Prize winner for Literature in 1926.
Fourth Day Jeep tour on Supramonte calcareous mountains and lunch with the shepherds. We'll discover silence, paths trodden by generations of goatherds whose faces are burnt by the sun and by the rigours of winter: people who make up for the lack of loquacity simply opening the fence of their shelters and offering their best food to guests.
Fifth Day Orgosolo. Walking around we'll see the famous murals, prehistoric tombs semi-hidden in the woods and we'll experience the awesomeness of ravines which remind visitors of the dawn of human civilization.
Sixth Day Bitti. We'll visit one of the most important cult places of prehistory, made of 5 temples. We'll then listen to the famous a tenores singing and we'll see some of the traditional artisans working.
Seventh Day Historical and Environmental Geo-mining Park in Sulcis-Iglesiente area. We'll visit Montevecchio and San Giovanni mining complex, with its beautiful grotto whose dark-brown tabular crystals of Baryte are unique in the world. We'll then drive along the old path to Nebida which leads to one of the most wonderful panoramas in Sardinia . We'll then go to see the highest sand dunes in Sardinia : Piscinas dunes which are up to 60 meter high.
Please consider that during summer program can be slightly changed in order to leave some time for guests to enjoy Sardinia's beaches.
